The Finance Department maintains procedures and assures financial control; produces financial reports and information to support effective decision making; produces financial projections for long-term planning; and carries out the accounting operations for Poudre School District in a timely manner.

PSD FY2025-26 Budget
(July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026)
For the fourth year in a row, PSD is experiencing increased state funding for K-12 operations. Per pupil revenue is now $11,345.89, which represents a 12.5% increase from FY25 funding levels. FY26 is also the first year since 2009 that the State of Colorado has fully funded K-12 education by eliminating the budget stabilization factor. The Board of Education set the following priorities for the 2025-26 financial year:
• All Students Graduate with Options
• Literacy
• Mental Health
Additional considerations include providing competitive salary and benefits for staff, evaluating declining enrollment trends, and prioritizing and supporting student and staff safety.
In November 2024, Poudre School District successfully passed a ballot measure to introduce a debt free mill levy override beginning in January 2025. This mill levy provided $49 million in FY25 funding and will increase with inflation in subsequent years. These mill levy dollars allow the District to prioritize maintenance and renovation of existing buildings, installation of air conditioning in schools, increased staff pay for better recruitment and retention, small school support, and expansion of Career Technology Education (CTE) offerings and curricular supply support.
Colorado School Funding Model
School districts receive funding from two sources:
- State funding formula (property taxes and state funding, which is determined by the state legislature each year)
- Local revenue (mill levy overrides, property taxes and vehicle registration fees)
