Giving to PSD

Giving to PSD helps fill vital gaps that State and Federal funding models do not cover.

Donations can support a wide range of activities in a classroom or school, a program, or one of the priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan (Literacy, Mental Health & Belonging, Graduate with Options). When you choose to invest in our local schools, you have two primary avenues for your gifts: donating directly to the school district or donating through the PSD Foundation. Both options may be tax-deductible* and ultimately benefit our students greatly, but they differ in how your funds are managed, matched, and directed. 
 

Foundation Contributions

The PSD Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a board of community members, parents, and local leaders. The foundation regularly passes funds through to the district to benefit specific schools, projects, and programs. The independent oversight by the foundation board ensures your gift is spent exactly as it is intended. 

  • Targeted Impact: Your money is securely managed outside the district’s standard budget to fund targeted initiatives, programs, schools, or projects. 
  • Corporate Matching: Because the school district is a government entity, it does not hold a 501(c)(3) status. By routing your donation through the foundation, you can often double your contribution through employer matching programs that would otherwise reject direct government gifts. 
  • Long-Term Legacy: While direct district donations are usually spent within the current academic year, the foundation is uniquely positioned to build long-term sustainability. The foundation establishes endowment funds, scholarship funds, and multi-year investment strategies to bridge systematic funding gaps and provide added layers of excellence for our students.
