Tyler Muniz Named Next Principal of Putnam Elementary School

Tyler Muniz and familyPoudre School District is pleased to announce that Tyler Muniz has been selected as the next principal of Putnam Elementary School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Muniz, who brings more than a decade of experience in public education, is eager to join the Putnam community to continue its culture of collaboration and excellence. 

Muniz holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and a Master of Science in Special Education from the University of Wyoming, as well as a Bachelor of Science from the University of Northern Colorado. In spring 2026, he began coursework toward his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.

He brings more than 13 years of experience in education, which includes six years as a classroom teacher and seven years in school and district leadership in southeast Wyoming. In addition to his school leadership responsibilities, Muniz has served as a District Title I Coordinator, a member of the Wyoming Department of Education Superintendent’s Literacy Cabinet, a member of the Wyoming Advisory Panel for Students with Disabilities, and a mentor in the University of Wyoming Principal Mentor Program.

He is excited to join the Putnam Elementary community and become part of a team known for its commitment to students, collaboration, and excellence. He is dedicated to building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners. His leadership philosophy emphasizes listening, fostering trust, and working collaboratively to create a school where every student feels known, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.

Outside of work, Muniz enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, supporting their athletic and extracurricular activities, traveling with his family, attending Colorado Rockies games, and fly fishing.

“Tyler will be a great addition to the Putnam community,” said Assistant Superintendent Julie Chaplain. “He brings with him many years of experience as a leader of Title I schools and a track record of academic success throughout his career.”
