Shepardson welcomes new principal Laura Sutton

We are pleased to share that Laura Sutton has been named the next principal of Shepardson STEM Elementary School, beginning with the 2025-26 school year. A dedicated educator with a passion for fostering academic growth and building strong, collaborative communities, Mrs. Sutton brings over two decades of experience and a deep commitment to Shepardson Elementary.

Mrs. Sutton’s journey in education has been shaped by the stories of individuals who have overcome adversity. She is committed to ensuring that schools are inclusive environments where all students have the opportunity to thrive and reach their fullest potential.

Since joining Poudre School District in 2010, Mrs. Sutton has served as an assistant principal at Shepardson for the past five years. Prior to that, she worked as an interventionist and first- and second-grade teacher at O’Dea and Bennett Elementary Schools. Before moving to Fort Collins, she taught first grade and served as an interventionist in Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Tyler.

Mrs. Sutton is honored to continue leading Shepardson STEM Elementary and is eager to support students, staff, and families in their ongoing success. She and her husband, David, along with their two sons—Josiah, a sophomore at Fort Collins High School, and Elijah, a seventh grader at Lesher Middle School—love traveling and spending time in the mountains together. Laura looks forward to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all at Shepardson.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Sutton on this new role.
