Bamford Elementary feeder pattern change and school registration

The PSD Board of Education approved a change to Bamford Elementary School’s feeder pattern, beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Students who reside in Bamford’s attendance area will now attend Preston Middle School and Fossil Ridge High School (FRHS) when they enter sixth and ninth grade, respectively.

This change will help all schools involved balance enrollment: TMHS will get relief from increasing enrollment, and Preston and Fossil will be able to add more students. This change impacts students who will be in grades six through 10 for the 2025-26 school year who reside in the Bamford Elementary attendance area except for:

  • Students who currently attend a school of choice school or who accept a 2025-26 school choice offer (these students can continue to attend their choice schools), or
  • Students who currently attend TMHS or would like to start sixth grade there next year AND have an older sibling at TMHS next year. Parents of these students can submit an Intent to Enroll electronic form for the 2025-26 school year using their ParentVue account.
    • The Intent to Enroll form will be available in PSD Forms in ParentVue beginning on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024. The form only applies to the 2025-2026 school year.

    •  Intent to Enroll forms must be submitted by Monday, Dec. 16, 2024.

    •  For students in which we receive an Intent to Enroll form for the 2025-2026 school year, they can remain at TMHS through graduation, unless they move or decide to change schools.

    • PSD will not provide transportation for students who attend TMHS as a result of approval after submitting an Intent to Enroll form.

Students who will be attending Preston or Fossil for the 2025-26 school year do not need to fill out any forms or applications.

Students currently in grades 10-11 at TMHS will remain at TMHS if they don’t plan to attend FRHS or choice into another school next year. They may simply stay; no form needs to be submitted. PSD will provide transportation to TMHS for these students.

School Choice for the 2025-26 school year

The first window for families to apply for school choice for 2025-26 is Nov. 4 through Dec. 16. The application will become available at psdschools.org on Nov. 4. First-round seat offers will be sent the week of January 5, 2025. Those offered a seat must respond to the offer within five weekdays, or the offer will be marked as declined and the application removed from the school’s waitlist. Weekdays are defined as Monday through Friday, including any holidays and school closure days during the week.

  • First-round applications are processed through a lottery, not on a first-come, first-served basis. A priority ranking system is used in this process. Review School Choice policy and priority rankings. >>
  • Applicants can apply to multiple schools, but they must submit a separate application for each school and cannot rank them in order of preference.
  • Submitting a school choice application does not guarantee enrollment at a particular school. Acceptance is based on eligibility requirements and space availability at each school.
  • Students who currently attend a school through school choice do not need to re-apply to continue at that school in 2025-26.
  • Students on a school’s waitlist for the 2024-25 school year who have not yet received a seat offer must re-apply for consideration in the 2025-26 school year – an application for 2024-25 does not carry over to 2025-26.

A second-round school choice window is scheduled to open in mid-January 2025.

  • Unlike the first-round, applications are based on priority ranking and the date and time of when the application was submitted (not a lottery system).
  • Students are placed on the waitlist after any first-round applicants within the applicable priority ranking.

More information, including instructions on using the application system and school options, are available on the PSD School Choice Process web page. >>

Registration in PSD

Online registration for new students and students who previously attended PSD, left, and are returning for the 2025-26 school year will begin Monday, Nov. 4. To learn more about online registration and enrolling new or returning students, visit the PSD Online Registration web page.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten families can register online beginning Monday, Nov. 4, or in-person at their PSD neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Contact your student’s PSD neighborhood school for school hours and visit the School Locator to determine which school is your neighborhood school.

Parents/legal guardians must register students entering kindergarten at their designated PSD neighborhood school, even if a school choice application is pending. Please refer to District Policy JEB for age requirements for kindergarten in PSD.

  • Registering at the PSD designated neighborhood school does not impact a pending school choice application or potential seat offers from a choice school or program.
  • Parents/legal guardians of incoming kindergartners should register as soon as possible to help schools to determine their classroom sizes, staffing needs, and the number of school choice seats they can offer. However, online registration will still be available for families throughout the rest of the year.
