Classified Staff Week: Honoring those supporting student success

With over 1,900 classified employees in dozens of positions across the district, these staff serve a vital role in helping students, staff, and families. We could not support students without their work.

Classified Staff Appreciation Week Feb. 10-14

To celebrate Classified Employee Appreciation Week this week, we thank these staff members who generously give their time and talent to the district.

Whether actively helping students and families or working behind the scenes, classified staff serve in many roles in the district - some you may never have heard of before - but are crucial to student success. Meet classified staff members Jess Narvaez, Tia Hunter and DJ James below.

Sharing their passion for their job

Jess Narvaez, Project SEARCH paraprofessional vocational

“As a classified employee and Paraprofessional Vocational for Project SEARCH, I get to be immersed in the community while supporting our students. This kind of exposure sets in motion a ripple effect that raises awareness about what it means to create an inclusive environment for people of all abilities, and I love that!”

"It matters to me that the kids and grown-ups all know that every student who comes through my health office feels safe and cared for. I believe that both physical and mental health are vital for kids learning. I love being in a position where I can get to know every kid and every family at our school."
