Student and family support following Denver school shooting
Dear PSD Families:
I’m sure many of you have heard by now about Wednesday morning’s shooting of two administrators at East High School in Denver. We wish both staff members a full recovery from their injuries, both mental and physical, and stand in solidarity with East and the Denver Public Schools community as they process this tragedy.
Celebrating academic successes: A look at PSD’s annual ‘report card’

Our team recently completed the district’s annual monitoring report. Think of it like PSD’s report card – more than 100 pages that show how we’re doing around our priorities of literacy, graduation with options, and mental health and belonging.
PSD announces new principals of five schools
Poudre School District is proud to share with you the names of five outstanding individuals who will serve as the new principals of Beattie Elementary School, Laurel Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, O’Dea Elementary School, and Polaris Expeditionary Learning School starting in 2023-24.
The new principals at Beattie, Laurel, and Polaris will fill a role left by a retiring principal. The principal of Lincoln is making his interim role permanent, and the principal of O’Dea is taking an education dream job outside of the country.
Spring break – Mental health and belonging resources
These final months of the school year are a busy time, filled with performances, competitions, parent-teacher conferences, and more. We hope everyone has opportunities to rest and recharge during spring break (March 13-17).
Read Across America Day: literacy fun for all ages in PSD
From guest readers in classes to readathons and book exchanges, Read Across America Day in Poudre School District was a non-stop celebration of all things literacy.
Read Across America Day, observed on March 2 every year, is an opportunity to promote a love for reading while recognizing literacy as an important building block for lifelong learning. Many schools throughout PSD celebrated reading not only on this special day but all week long!
