Second round school choice application period opens Jan. 16

The second of two school choice application periods for the 2025-26 school year opens at 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 16. To apply, visit the PSD School Choice Process web page

The second round differs from the first round in the following ways:

  • Second-round applications are based on priority ranking and the date and time of submission (not a lottery system).
    • Applicants in the second round are placed on the waiting list after any first-round applicants within the applicable priority ranking.
    • Seat offers are made on a space-available basis.
  • The second round is an option for families who:
    • Did not participate in the first round of school choice applications.
    • Received a seat offer and rejected it or had it automatically declined due to no response and wish to reapply to the school.
    • Wish to apply to additional schools after submitting a first-round application.
  • The second round will run through early May 2026. However, applications should be submitted as soon as possible, as the number of available spaces will decrease over time as seat offers are accepted.

Seat offers from the first round are being sent Jan. 8 and Jan. 15. If you applied for school choice during the first round and did not recieve a seat offer, your child will remain on the waitlist in the second round until a seat becomes available and is offered or until the waitlist is purged annually. Please continue to check your email and the Family Dashboard frequently to see if a seat becomes available.

Students who currently attend a school through school choice do not need to re-apply to continue at that school in 2025-26.

For questions regarding space availability at a specific school, please contact that school directly.
