16 Students Earn GED Diplomas

Sixteen students graduated from Poudre High School’s General Education Development program  May 4 at the Poudre High School Commons area, 201 Impala Drive.

George Osborne, PHS principal, addressed the graduates. PSD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Wilson, several school board members and other PSD administrators attended the ceremony. Each graduate had an opportunity to speak to the audience.

During the 2010-11 school year, 49 students, ranging from 16 to 58 years old, were enrolled in the PHS GED program.

The GED Program prepares non-traditional students to take GED tests. These tests measure major academic skills and concepts associated with four years of regular high school instruction and provide an opportunity for individuals who have not graduated from high school to earn a high school equivalency diploma. The GED tests measure competency in five subject areas: language arts, writing and reading, social studies, science, and mathematics.
