PSD statement on commitment to every student

Dear Poudre School District Community,

Poudre School District (PSD) remains unwavering in our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for every student, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, immigration status, or any other protected identity.

In light of recent federal executive orders and policy discussions, we acknowledge the concerns expressed by our students, families, and staff. We want to be clear: PSD’s commitment to equity and student safety remains steadfast. Our mission is to educate and support every learner in a safe, welcoming, and affirming environment.

In accordance with state and federal law, our schools do not collect or share information about a student’s immigration status, and we will continue to uphold the legal rights of all students. Likewise, PSD remains committed to ensuring that our LGBTQIA+ students and staff are protected from discrimination and treated with dignity and respect in accordance with state and federal protections.

We understand that during times of change, uncertainty can generate concern. We want to assure our community that PSD policies and practices are designed to protect our students and staff. No visitor may enter a school without checking in at the front entrance and presenting legitimate and/or legal rationale for their presence. Our campuses remain secure spaces where every student can learn and thrive without fear of harassment or discrimination.

As we move forward, we will continue to monitor federal and state policy changes and communicate transparently about any potential impacts on our schools. Our focus remains on ensuring that every student in PSD receives the education, support, and security they deserve.

To our students, families, and staff: We stand with you. You belong here. For more information about our policies on student rights and protections, please visit the Student Rights and Code of Conduct.

Sincerely,
Poudre School District
