A small wellness center inside Centennial High School has been reimagined as a strength training gym by CHS teacher Robert Montoya. Montoya's strength training class helps students train their bodies and minds, manage emotions, and set goals.

January

People gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Landing

On Dec. 18, Poudre and Thompson school districts and the Matthews House celebrated the grand opening of a youth shelter in Loveland. The Landing, which will officially open Jan. 27, is made possible through a community partnership.

Led by the Student Council, Poudre High students and staff provided more than 600 PSD students, families, and community members with two weeks' worth of food at the 17th annual Feed our Families event ahead of Winter Break.

A Dunn Elementary student is honored for traits of character.

Congrats to the 45 students at Dunn Elementary, an International Baccalaureate World School, who were honored in December for exhibiting the traits of an International Citizen, including being reflective, caring, and knowledgeable.

First-graders in Kristen Urbauer's and Jana McCoy's classes at McGraw Elementary drew monsters and saw them brought to life by students in Liz Broste's Sew Creative class at Webber Middle School.>>

Eighth-graders explored career fields that match their interests and learned about classes and opportunities that will help them reach their dream job at the Eighth Grade Career Fair at Colorado State University.

Olander students present their film at the film fest.

Olander students organized an Eco Experience Film Fest to present stories inspired by their time at CSU's Mountain Campus this fall. The festival was the culmination of a project-based learning process.

Centennial High School students enjoyed a walk, expressed their gratitude for important things in their lives while standing in a gratitude circle, and enjoyed a communal feast on the last day before Fall Break. See more CHS photos.>>

For the second year in a row, the PSD Stars Hockey Team played a friendly game of hockey against a team of local law enforcement officers at NoCo Ice Center. All proceeds raised went to the PSD Stars. See more photos from the hockey game.>>

Thirty-six seniors from six Poudre School District high schools became certified to work as wildland firefighters during a weekend training earlier this month. See more photos from the training on Facebook.>>

Javelin throwing, jousting, a live falcon demonstration, and, of course, costumes were all part of the fun at Traut Core Knowledge School's annual Medieval Festival. See more from the Medieval Festival on social. >>

Ribbon -cutting ceremony at Kindard Core Knowledgw Middle School.

A $10,000 grant from the CrossFit Foundation made it possible for Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School to redo and update their weight room. The school hosted a ribbon-cutting Friday for newly installed equipment. See the Facebook post about the grant.>>

PSD elementary students at CANS Around the Oval.

Students from multiple PSD schools collected tons of non-perishable food for the Food Bank for Larimer County during the annual C.A.N.S. Around the Oval food drive. Teams used donated items to get creative during a CANstruction contest. Read more about the event.>>

Environmental Leadership students from Fort Collins High School recently spent a week in Florissant for an experience at the High Trails Outdoor Education Center. Learn more about this opportunity, made possible by a $21,525 Colorado Parks and Wildlife Equity grant.>>
