Translation/Interpretation Services
Graduation attendees who need interpretation services have two options this year:
Use a personal wireless device/smartphone to read translated text – Attendees can use a personal smartphone or other wireless device, such as a tablet, to scan a QR code that opens Instant Language Assistant (ILA) services. Select a language and country from the ILA menu, and translated text of what is being said on stage will automatically appear on the personal device during the ceremony.
- ILA offers translation into multiple languages. It can also provide captions in English for those with hearing loss who want to read text of what is being said on stage.
- Those using ILA services do not have to sit in a specific section at Moby or the Lincoln Center.
- Those using ILA can also listen to the translated text being read if they bring earbuds, headphones, or other private listening equipment that connects to their phone or device.
- The QR code will be posted on the jumbotron at Moby Arena and at the translation/interpretation table outside the auditorium at the Lincoln Center.
- Pick up a headset for live interpretation services – Attendees can choose to borrow a headset for live interpretation services. Headsets will be available at the interpretation/translation table at the Lincoln Center and outside Section M at Moby Arena.
- Live interpretation services will be available in Spanish only. Those using a headset can sit anywhere in Moby Arena or the Lincoln Center.
- They can sit in Section M at Moby if they would like to be near the interpreter and the headset pick-up/drop-off table.
