Dear Poudre School District community,
I want to extend warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you. The joy and spirit of the holidays were all around, as I visited schools recently.
As we take time this winter break, I hope you are able to connect with friends and loved ones, and recharge for second semester. Before then, I want to share my deep appreciation.
To our students: Our school district exists for you. You inspire the entire PSD team to do our best every day – to help you grow and recognize your brilliance. You make us proud, whether you are earning state and national accolades; creating beautiful music for others to enjoy; donating thousands of dollars, turkeys and gifts to families in need; or persevering at school and home each day, even when things may be tough.
To our parents, guardians and family members: You are your child’s first teacher, coach, and mentor. And together, we are partners throughout your student’s educational journey. Thank you for volunteering at class parties, organizing fundraisers, serving on committees, helping with homework, supporting your schools, and so much more. Your support of your children and young adults, and public education, means so much.
To my colleagues: You ignite our students’ curiosities, teach them lifelong skills, and help them to connect with other people and their passions. Our PSD team is about 5,400 people strong and so full of talent, from our teachers and paraprofessionals to sign-language interpreters and family liaisons to payroll technicians, locksmiths, and occupational therapists. Together, we make PSD one of the strongest districts in the state and nation, and I’m proud to serve alongside you.
To our community partners: This part of the country and state is known for its collaboration. There are too many partners to name individually without potentially leaving someone out. Just a few examples include those who have started apprenticeships and internships for our students to explore career options; those who donated and distributed thousands of coats and boots; those who volunteered their time in our schools; and those who donated to the PSD Foundation or district to support innovative learning opportunities. The list literally goes on and on.
To the entire PSD community: It is no exaggeration when I say that what we do together changes lives. Our youth are the future, and we have the awesome responsibility of preparing them to be successful in life – and to experience happiness and fulfillment along the way.
To everyone I say, thank you for being you. You make us better. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season!
