Poudre School District is pleased to announce that Emily Bickerton has been named the district’s new director of Human Resources.
Bickerton began her HR career in public education in 2016. She held different HR roles in Englewood Schools, Jeffco Public Schools, and at HRx, a small HR consulting company, before coming to PSD in 2022. She began her new position as director in July; she was previously the assistant director of HR.
“Since joining PSD, I have been so impressed with the talent we have here— our employees are so collaborative, knowledgeable, and driven,” Bickerton said. “I am excited to continue working with this dedicated group of professionals and to continue learning from them every day.”
As director of HR, Bickerton will be leading and developing PSD’s HR business partners and HR specialists in providing support to our school-based employees and supervisors.
She will also serve as a resource on employment law, manage the district's compensation plan, support district hiring processes, and supervise HR department employees while working to enhance HR practices, streamline processes and create a positive work environment for employees.
PSD’s Chief Human Resources Officer Erich WonSavage says Bickerton is a proven asset on the HR team.
“Having supported our Classified employees and supervisors in her previous role as assistant HR director, I’m proud to see her grow into this director role at Poudre School District,” he said. “She will be applying her experience in employee relations, process and systems improvement, compensation and employment to help lead us into our future.”
Throughout her work, Bickerton is the proudest of projects in which she has developed tools and procedures to ensure a safer and more transparent system for school district employees. She said she wants to continue making PSD's HR practices as equitable and clear as possible in her new role.
“I will actively work towards creating an inclusive and equitable environment for all employees, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring that PSD continues to attract and retain the best talent possible for our students,” she said.
Outside of work, Bickerton’s hobbies include reading, yoga, traveling and hiking with her husband and their two dogs.
