Poudre School District Students Win Big at Colorado State Track Meet

Poudre School District students left it all on the track this weekend at the 2026 Track and Field State Championships, with students taking home individual titles and one team winning the entire team competition. 

Throughout the three day event, students from across PSD competed against fellow Colorado competitors and brought home numerous wins in various competitions. This included: 

  • Fort Collins boys took first place in the 5A boys teams category 
  • Cadel Ruthven of Fort Collins won the boys 5A 1600 meter category
  • Fort Collins boys won the 5A boys 4 x 200 meter category and set a meet record
  • Addyson Smith of Fossil Ridge won the 5A girls 100 meter and the 5A girls 200 meter categories 
  • Kaia Bennett of Rocky Mountain won the 5A girls discus category 
  • Fossil Ridge girls placed fourth in the 5A girls team category
  • Timnath Middle-High school in the 4A girls team category 

“Every year I am amazed at the skills and abilities of our student athletes, especially when they compete alongside the best student athletes across the state,” said Superintendent Brian Kingsley. “Congratulations to all the students who competed in this year’s state competition. I know that this accomplishment and the pride that comes with it will stay with you for your entire life, and I am so happy you got to experience it here at PSD!”
