PSD Seeks Input on Superintendent Qualities

What a great start to the school year! With the first days of school behind us, our teachers are focused on providing high quality instruction, planning lessons and unit assessments and preparing our students for the future.

As we move into Fall, the school board is concentrating on the search for a permanent superintendent. As part of this process, PSD will be holding four community forums for parents, residents, students and staff to give input regarding the characteristics they want to see in the long-term superintendent. These forums, facilitated by the Center for Public Deliberation at CSU, will be held September 24, September 26, September 28 and October 1. More information about these forums is posted on the district calendar on the PSD website.

The community can also give input through an online survey that is currently posted on the PSD website. I encourage PSD stakeholders to fill out the survey and attend the forums to ensure that all voices are heard. The board is eager to hear what the community wants in the future leader of their schools.

There will be additional opportunities for community members to provide input into the selection process including possible interview committees.

After the forums, the board will work with a search firm to advertise the superintendent position nation-wide. The board is hoping to have the search wrapped up by Spring 2013.

I am excited for what the year ahead holds for our community and schools. I am thrilled to be able to lead such a dynamic, outstanding district through this transition period and help maintain the excellence PSD is known for.

Sincerely,

Nancy Wright, Ed.D.
Interim -Superintendent
